The Ohio Benefit Bank Tax Program

With the support of the Ohio Benefit Bank and a number of volunteers, St. Paul hosts an annual tax preparation program. It provides free tax preparation services for individuals during the months of February, March and April each year.

A Popular Program

Free tax assistance is available to most low and moderate income Ohio households through The Ohio Benefit Bank (OBB). Tax services include free e-filing and the ability to receive a refund in as little as seven to ten days, with no fees or other charges. Since the program’s inception in 2006, the OBB has helped hundreds of thousands of Ohioans claim tax credits and benefits that are worth millions of dollars.

St. Paul has several years’ experience in running one of the largest tax preparation sites in the Dayton area. The five volunteer counselors assisted 218 clients and completed 398 returns last tax season. We met and exceeded our goal of 200 clients that was set as a part of a $5,000 grant we received from the Ohio Benefit Bank. The clients received a grand total of $234,496 in refunds, with an average of $1,396 per client. During the tax season, appointments are available weekdays during the morning, afternoon and evening in order to accommodate as many people as possible.
